Former Road March queen Faye Ann Lyons seems to have taken her hit "Break Away" to heart and has bid adieu to soca band Invazion.
While word of Lyons's departure remained unconfirmed by the former lead vocalist, she failed to appear with the band at the soca fete "Break" held at the Anchorage on Saturday.
Daughter of eight-time Road March winner SuperBlue, Lyons launched her career in 2000 alongside fellow band member (also a Road March winner), Naya George.
"Well I don't know what is going on with Faye Ann really," George said yesterday, "the only person who could really answer that right now is Faye Ann."
He however confirmed that Lyons was no longer a member of the band but said everything was well with the band. "Invazion is really strong, really together as a unit and no task is too big musically for Invasion," he said.
Lyons, who has been making headlines recently as her relationship with beau Bunji Garlin was made public, declined comment yesterday, saying she will be announcing her career status within the next few days.
In the meantime, industry insiders have their own take on the issue as many believe that she will join with Garlin's band The Asylum.
"I don't know what she intends to do with her career," said Garlin's manager, Ian Pantin, "but I can say that she is not a member of the Asylum."
Lyons was seen accompanying Garlin to the "Smash-Up" fete in Arima, New Year's night, the same night "Break" was held at the Anchorage.
Invazion will not be replacing Lyons with another female vocalist and will performin this Carnival season as an all-male band, said George.
The new line-up consists of George, former member Kern "Bert" Alfred and his identical twin Kernis, aka "Bart", as the frontline vocalists.
"We hope that the decision she made whether it is to go as a solo artiste or what brings her the best," George said.
