Soca artist Onika Bostic has showed marginal improvements in her medical condition, according to her colleagues.
However, the singer remains warded in the Intensive Care Unit of Port-of-Spain General Hospital in a critical condition.
Reigning Road March Champion and close friend of Bostic, Shurwayne Winchester, said yesterday he had received word from her family that the bleeding from her head wounds had stopped.
?She?s not haemorrhaging anymore, and that in itself is a great sign,? Winchester said in a phone interview.
Soca artiste and CEO of the Point Fortin-based Trini Bashment 91.9 fm radio station, Iwer George, said during a phone interview that he had also received the ?good news? that Bostic was no longer haemorrhaging.
?That is really all the news I get, but in a case like this no news is good news, George said.
Winchester said Bostic?s accident had left the entire local music industry in a state of shock.
?There is not an artiste who has not been influenced by Onika?s accident.
"There was a feeling of disbelief when I first heard about it, but prayer is powerful, and through God everything is possible.?
He said he hoped Bostic?s accident would serve as a wake-up call for some of his colleagues in the industry.
Meanwhile, the North-West Regional Health Authority remained tight-lipped yesterday and refused to divulge details on Bostic?s condition.
NWRHA manager of corporate relations, Charmaine Codrington, said during a phone interview that Bostic?s condition was the same and she remained on life support.
?She is on ventilatory support. I can?t say anymore, because we must maintain patient confidentiality,? Codrington said.
Bostic sustained serious cranial and spinal injuries in an early morning car crash on Sunday.
The accident, in which five cars were involved, occurred at around 1 am at the corner of Erica Street and Eastern Main Road, Laventille.
