Bookmakers have placed Miss World contestant Trinidad and Tobago's Kenisha Thom in the top three.

Miss World franchise holder Peter Elias said yesterday that Thom was a favourite on the international betting market.

He said the bookmakers' bets for the Miss World pageant are very popular and Thom has been placed in the first three in almost all of the odds.

The Bookmakers' bets for the Miss World pageant have been a tradition since the very beginning of the pageant. Just like sports, award shows and other competitions, people place a bet on their favourites hoping to win big money.

Elias said although he is not a betting man, he feels proud that Thom has been receiving positive international recognition .

Last Saturday, Thom received an early Christmas gift from the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

Thom's parents along with her brother arrived in China on Saturday compliments the THA.

Chief Secretary of the THA Orville London told the Express that some of the divisions of the THA has supported the family to be there with Thom as she represents this country in the Miss World Pageant on Saturday in China.

London said that Tobagonians are proud of Thom. "I have known her for quite some time and she has developed to be quite an Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago," he said.
