The 34-year-old man is to be placed on an identification parade after police from the West End station searched his Bagatelle, Diego Martin, home yesterday and found the illegal narcotic.

Police report that at around 4 am yesterday, WPC Dianne Walters and PC Michael John were on patrol at Savannah Trace No 1 in Bagatelle when they saw a man walking with a large object, acting suspiciously.

They searched him and found that the object, which was wrapped in a yellow piece of cloth, was a loaded Maverick shotgun which contained five rounds of 12-gauge cartridges.

The man also had several pieces of marijuana, six rocks of cocaine and an apparatus used for smoking cocaine.

He was arrested and taken to the West End station.

Police obtained a search warrant and a party of officers under the supervision of Cpl Danraj Narine searched the man?s one-room shack at Savannah Trace.

They found 81.34 kg of compressed marijuana, several seedlings, wrapping paper and plant pots.

Sources said the man had several pending drug-related cases and would be placed on an identification parade for various robberies and other crime in the western district.

Insp Nandran Moonilal, Sgt Dave Duncan, and PCs Cyril Vincent, Nigel Burgess, Tyrone Jack, Matthew Billingy and Elton John, among others, were also involved in the exercise.
